Preparing for Commencement





Dear fellow Cañadians, friends and family,

We look forward to celebrating our graduates at tomorrow’s 51st Annual Commencement! Due to construction on campus, the ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the Large Gym at College of San Mateo. Some important items to remember:

Tickets are Required

All guests must have a ticket to enter the Large or Small Gymnasium and doors open at 8:30 a.m. For those who do not have tickets, there are two on campus viewing areas to watch the ceremony via live stream:

College Center, Building 10
Ticket not required, doors open at 9 a.m.
Building 5, Room 202
Ticket not required, doors open at 9 a.m.

Web Stream

Friends and family of the graduates can also watch the ceremony from home! The broadcast of the Commencement Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and can be viewed at www.canadacollege.edu/commencement. Souvenir DVDs will be available to purchase through BAOSN.tv 


Post Commencement Reception
Immediately following the ceremony, graduates and their loved ones are invited to attend a reception in the Bayview Dining Room, College Center, Building 10. Light refreshments will be served.

Parking

Parking permits are not required. All other parking and traffic rules apply. Beethoven Lot 2 is the closest general parking area near the ceremony location, Gymnasium, Building 8. The circular driveway in front of the Health & Wellness (San Mateo Athletic Club) - Building 5 is the designated drop-off area for guests.  Olympian Parking Lot 12 is the drop-off area for graduates.  There will not be any parking allowed in Lot 12.  Visit Maps, Directions & Parking for more information.

Please Remember
In order to ensure an enjoyable and hazard-free event shared by all, please note that college district policy prohibits alcohol, illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia, weapons or animals on college property.  Registered service guide or emotional support assistance animals are allowed.  Proof of registration may be required. Smoking is not allowed except in parking lots only. For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please discourage the use of: air horns, confetti blowers, selfie sticks and balloons. Please refrain from bringing outside food and beverage into the Gym.

De-Stress before finals with some furry friends! Therapy dogs from the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA will be visiting the Library.

Get Ready! Get Set! Let’s Play!

10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
The Grove

Come celebrate the last day of classes and have some fun! Show your school spirit and wear Cañada gear. Enjoy a free snack bar and activities. Adults only please! The event is sponsored by the Business, Design & Workforce Division and Education & Human Development Department.

You won't want to miss the 6th annual Digital Art & Animation Student Show! Bring your family & friends, and come see terrific student work, award winning short films and other surprises.

Building 9, Third Floor

Come and blow off some steam at the Library where you can make buttons and magnets as well as enjoy coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, snacks, and be in an a relaxing environment.

A time to sit down with TRIO staff, over a cup of coffee or tea and cookies, to catch up, check in, and get/find support. The coffee, tea, and cookies are free and all students are welcome to join.

A panel composed of student leaders who will discuss and answer questions on what students can to do successfully prepare for finals.

It’s never too early to plan for retirement.  Learn the terminology, evaluate your current savings strategies, and begin planning for your future.  Lunch will be provided.
