Dear Campus Community,
As we prepare for the end of
the fall semester, the Thanksgiving holiday break is a wonderful time to pause
and reflect. Our students, faculty and staff have worked hard this
semester, and the fruits of that hard work are about to be realized.
Thanksgiving is traditionally
a time where we gather with our family and friends. It’s important to
remember that Cañada College is part of your family as well. We study
together, teach together, support each other in times of need, agree and
disagree with one another. We depend on one another to achieve our shared
mission and to do so with civility and collegiality. We’re thankful for
the good work that we do, helping our students to change their lives and
achieve their dreams. I want to extend my personal thanks to all of you
for all of the good work that you do.
This time is also an
opportunity to remember and reflect upon the contributions, livelihood, and
connections to the land and our indigenous, Native American, and First Nation
communities in the region and throughout the country. However you spend your
long weekend, please know that Cañada College honors and values the experiences
of our tribal communities, especially on this Ohlone land.
Staff who are typically
scheduled to work beyond 4:30
p.m. on Wednesday evenings can still work their same
shift. Staff then have the option to potentially use vacation leave for any
scheduled work time beyond 4:30 p.m. or they can work with their direct supervisor
to make adjustments to their schedule as appropriate.
In preparation for the
upcoming Thanksgiving Recess, I wanted to share that the following departments
will be closed or hold reduced hours on Wednesday, November 27:

it’s important to remember the good. Be safe and enjoy the Thanksgiving

I wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
Sincerely,
Jamillah Moore, Ed.D.
