Cañada College Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Rick Najera’s Latino Thought Makers Featuring Special Guest, Award-winning Actor Esai Morales

Nationally Recognized Live Conversation Series Comes to San Mateo County Community College Districts Cañada College on Tuesday, September 12 in the Main Theatre


REDWOOD CITY, CA [September 6, 2017] San Mateo County Community College District in collaboration with Cañada College presents Rick Najeras Latino Thought Makers live conversation series with special guest, award-winning actor/activist Esai Morales. Tuesday, September 12, 2017. The special event, kicking off celebrations for Hispanic Heritage Month, will take place at Cañada Colleges Main Theatre at 4200 Farm Hill Blvd, Redwood City, CA 94061 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a Q&A following the discussion.  Admission to the special event is free and open to the public with registration on EventBrite by visiting http://tinyurl.com/LTM912.

Special guest Esai Morales is an award-winning actor and social activist. He is recognized as one of the most talented and relevant actors in Hollywood. His breakthrough role in La Bamba made him a star, contributing to making the film the most commercially successful Latino-themed Rock biopic of all time. In addition to film, some of his recent television credits include Criminal Minds (CBS), Chicago PD (NBC), How to Get Away with Murder (ABC), Ozark (Netflix) and MARS executive produced by Ron Howard.

“We are very excited to partner with Rick Najera and Latino Thought Makers to bring celebrated actor and activist Esai Morales to our campus,” said Jamillah Moore, Ed.D., President of Cañada College. “Latino Thought Makers is an inspirational program and a great example of the culture, diversity and leadership we celebrate here on our campus.”

Latino Thought Makers is a nationally recognized live interview stage series hosted and created by comedian and award-winning writer-director-playwright-author Rick Najera. The show is geared toward Hispanic Serving Institutions and showcases the successes and career paths of prominent Latinos in Hollywood and other fields.  Previous high-profile guests have included Edward James Olmos, Danny Trejo, Josefina Lopez, Luis Guzman, Emilio Rivera, Lisa Vidal, Marco Antonio Regil, Myrka Dellanos, the family of Cesar Chavez and more.

Rick Najeras Latino Thought Makers: A Conversation with Esai Morales will take place on Tuesday, September 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Cañada College, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd, Redwood City, CA 94061. Admission is FREE and open to the public with registration on http://tinyurl.com/LTM912.
