On Monday, January 11, several members of the Cañada
Community celebrated the launch of La Costa Adult School in Half Moon Bay. More
than 150 prospective students were in attendance to take advantage of key
offerings such as: classes for immigrants, high school diploma or preparation
for high school equivalency examination, job training, apprenticeships in
business and classes for disabled adults. Cañada College offers two more levels
of ESL, also on Mondays and Wednesdays evenings, and Computer classes on
Tuesday evenings, which prepare students to transition to Cañada College. When
students successfully complete these courses, they earn the English for the
Workforce Award, a Cañada College ESL Department award, which is a college
pathway partially funded by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. A special
thank you to Gregory Anderson, Anniqua Rana, Jenny Castello, Diana Espinosa
Osuna and Mayra Arellano who were in attendance to welcome the students.
