Cañada Student Life
Helps Put on Largest State-Wide Student Leadership Conference
Cañada College’s Center
for Student Life and Leadership Development helped put on a successful
state-wide student leadership conference in Los Angeles October 21-23. With
more than 580 participants and 62 Community Colleges in attendance, it was one
of the largest California Community Colleges Student Affairs Association
(CCCSAA) conferences to date.
With the theme “Leaders
Assemble: Creating Heroes for Tomorrow” the Student Senate participated in over
19 workshops addressing leadership and teamwork for a socially just community.
This year was especially unique for Cañada’s student leaders as Cañada hosted
the state in the first social justice “Pre-Con” at the Museum of Tolerance. The
Student Senate ended the weekend leadership trip with a special visit with an
ASCC alumnae who spoke to the student leaders about what to expect in the first
months after transfer.
