Comb Your Hair or You’ll Look Like a
Slave: The Untold Story of Black Women Everywhere

Playwright and Cañada alum, Leelee
Jackson presents both an observation and a testimony, "Comb Your Hair Or
You'll Look Like A Slave.” This play explores the violence black women
face, starting from the very top of their heads. It ventures through why
some black girls don’t swim and addresses strong, insulting comments.

Area Artist, Sarah Newton, whose work is currently displayed in the Cañada
College Art Gallery. At 10 a.m., Sarah will talk about her work, career and
working methods. All are invited to come and join the discussion. At 4:30 p.m.,
the public is invited to a reception for the artist in the Gallery. Come and
look at the show and meet with the artist.
Mocktail Hour at the Library

Come hang out with the Library with a mocktail
and snacks. Librarians will promote graphic
novel collection to students, and other library resources while students staff,
faculty and administrators enjoy delicious non-alcoholic mixed drinks and
snacks. Students will have the opportunity to make buttons they can take home!
