Week of October 31, 2022
VACCINATION REQUIREMENT SUSPENDED
On October 26, 2022, the San Mateo County Community College District Board of Trustees suspended the COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement (Board Policy 2.90 ), effective immediately. The District no longer requires COVID-19 vaccination documentation or medical/religious exemptions for any individual. Employees, students, and the broader community may now access district facilities and in-person services regardless of vaccination status. Please remove any COVID vaccination attestation or requirement messaging from email signatures, websites, and any other communication channels.
SMCCCD recommends staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, including boosters, regardless of risk factors. To schedule an appointment, visit myturn.ca.gov.
SPRING 2023 IS FREE AT SAN MATEO COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT
Thanks to the overwhelming community support of SMCCCD’s Free Community College Initiative, Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 893. Now Cañada College, College of San Mateo and Skyline College can waive enrollment fees for students who reside in San Mateo County for the Spring 2023 semester (exceptions apply). There are no minimum or maximum units required. Depending on documented financial need, students may also be exempted from paying the student body fee, student representation fee, student union fee, inclusive access fee(s), and materials fees associated with the course.
To help students determine if they qualify for the Free College enrollment fee waiver, and other fee waivers, visit our Free College FAQ.
