What's Happening at Cañada Header

Today: The Great Shake Out

Today, October 14, at 10:14 a.m., all SMCCCD campuses and the District Office will participate in the Great ShakeOut—our annual chance to practice earthquake safety and evacuation together. SMCCCD combines Drop, Cover and Hold On with a follow-on Evacuation, so we rehearse both immediate protection and orderly movement to safety.

What to Expect (Timeline):

  • 10:14 a.m. – Drop, Cover and Hold On (60 seconds)
  • 10:17 a.m. – Evacuation begins (move to your designated Assembly Area)
  • 10:35 a.m. – ALL CLEAR (return to normal operations)

Notifications will go out via RAVE (text/email) and the campus Public Announcement System; this drill also serves as a test of those systems.
