FCC Launches Emergency Broadband Benefit

The Emergency Broadband Benefit will provide a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible families and households who are struggling to stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualifying households on Tribal lands can receive a discount of up to $75 per month for service. Eligible households can also receive a discount of up to $100 for the purchase of a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers. Due to the emergence of COVID-19 early last year, Cañada College did not hold a 2020 commencement ceremony but promised our 2019–2020 graduates one at a future date. On Friday, May 28, 2021, Cañada Collegewill follow through on that promise by premiering the 2020 Virtual Commencement ceremony on YouTube at 5:30 p.m. The event will be followed by the 2021 Virtual Commencement at 7 p.m. Both ceremonies will be available to watch any time after the premiere and links will be shared with the campus the week of virtual commencement. The SMCCCD Dream Center Task-force will be hosting an event to celebrate the accomplishments of graduating, transferring and or degree receiving. Undocumented/AB540 students, students from mixed status families, and/or active Dream Center student allies from across the District. There will be a ceremony, entertainment, graduate speakers, and more!
