ASCC is hosting an event that speaks about some important history of the Bay Area! Please join us to learn about the history that took place on the land that we live and learn.

 

STEM Speaker Series: Developing Technology to the Future Forward

The featured speaker is Roberto Ortiz-Soto. After graduating from the University of Southern California, Roberto worked at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company for almost nine years. In 2011, he left Lockheed Martin to work on the laser fusion project at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory National Ignition Facility. Afterwards he worked on developing a device to convert heat into electricity and then designing equipment to improve manufacturing efficiency. In 2016, he enrolled in the Fung Institute’s Master of Engineering program at the University of California at Berkeley as an Intel-UC Berkeley GEM Scholar. After graduating, he developed autonomous vehicles and robots at AutoX Inc and JD.com. He is currently developing hardware for NASA science missions at the U.C. Berkeley Space Sciences Lab.
