Current and Former Digital Art Students Create a Video

Current and Former Digital Art Students Create a Video

Digital Art & Animation students Elizabeth Birdwell, Gabrielle Soleimanipour, and Ivy Wooldridge, along with alumnus Eliza Gilliam, were hired by Professor John Hays over the summer to work on a promotional video for website CareerPeer.com. CareerPeer.com connects students who are preparing an application for a particular college with students currently attending that college. The applying student can then receive tips and advice on their application from the current student.

Under the direction of Professor Hays, the students developed character designs and created all of the motion graphics and animation contained in the 1 ½ minute video. The project provided the students valuable experience in working with a client and meeting the client’s expectations, as well as working collaboratively and incorporating feedback. In an animation tradition, the students name-checked several of the Digital Art & Animation faculty and each other in the project, incorporating their names into the profile images seen in the video.

Projects, such as CareerPeer.com, give students valuable professional experience while still in school, as well as a polished portfolio piece and a resume line item.
