Redwood Symphony Concert

Pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m.; Concert at 8 p.m.

A vivacious concert of wit at the highest level!  Eminent Bay Area composer Kirke Mechem will be in attendance for the performance of his symphony, first premiered to acclaim by the San Francisco Symphony under Josef Krips in 1969. Mozart's greatest work for solo strings is one of the composer's most profound and achingly beautiful statements.

In celebration of Black History Month, Dr. Daina Berry (Associate Professor of History and African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin) will discuss the political, social and economic significance of African Americans historically and today. Her newest book, a "financial recapitulation of Black bodies and souls,” will be discussed - followed by a Q&A session as well as book signing. Sponsored by Social Scientists, Student Senate, and GE Pathways.
