Campus Update on Air Quality for Cañada College

Dear Cañada Community,

As you know, smoke from the fires in Butte County has inundated the Bay Area. The Air Quality Index worsened through the night and is now considered unhealthy.

The campus is open and classes and offices are operating normally at this time. However, please limit your outdoor exposure as much as possible.

Please be sensitive to employees who are having difficulty today due to the air quality. If you are not feeling well, please alert your supervisor.

Our buildings have filtration systems that significantly reduce your exposure to unhealthy air. However, it will not eliminate the smell of the smoke. We are also reducing the amount of outside air coming into our buildings in order to reduce smoke smell and particulates.

As a reminder, campus will be closed Saturday, November 10 through Monday November 12 in honor of Veteran’s Day. No day or evening classes will be held during this time. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, November 13 when regular hours will resume.
